This is the follow-up LP from Mayall after he decided to end his Bluesbreakers band. Peter Green plays on the first track, which features a plane landing to signify Mayall's start of a 3-week LA vacation after terminating his seminal Bluesbreakers band, that included a still unmatched roster of classic Brit guitarslingers including Green, Clapton, Harvey Mandel and Mick Taylor, who is the main guitarist for other 11 tracks. Clapton (along w/Jack Bruce) played w/the bluesbreakers for about a year before leaving to form the psych rock supergroup Cream. The Laurel Canyon LP was recorded after a three-week LA vacation and there are lyric references to Mayall's encounters with Frank Zappa and family, Canned Heat and an infamous groupie. He returned to England to record the LP and then returned to Laurel Canyon and lived there for 10 years in a house he purchased (and which caught on fire)...
